(RNN) - The gunman who opened fire at the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, NV has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Reno Deputy Police Chief Tom Robinson reports one person died, in addition to the gunman. Two others are injured and listed in critical condition. Previously police believed four people were shot.
Robinson tells the Associated Press one of the wounded is a doctor, and both of the injured are undergoing surgery.
At 2:05 p.m. PT, a man entered the third floor of the Center for Advanced Medicine at Renown Regional Medical Center and opened fire.
Police have since done a room by room search of the medical center and declared the building "safe and secure." They have not yet identified the gunman.
"It doesn't appear to be random, but I don't know anything about the motive," Robinson said. "I wouldn't say it's targeted."
Earlier this year, Michael Landsberry, 45, a former Marine and teacher at Sparks Middle School, in nearby Sparks, NV, was killed when he was shot by a 12-year-old student that went on a shooting spree in October. He shot two other boys before taking his own life.
