7 from 7: Stories for your Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

Good Tuesday afternoon, everyone! We hope you're enjoying your day.

Here are some stories of interest for you to peruse today:

1. The jackpot for Tuesday Mega-Millions drawing, after 21 straight without a grand prize winner, could top $600 million. Lottery officials say if there's no winner in Tuesday night's drawing, the prize will swell to $800 million and possibly a billion by Christmas. Wow.

2. Apple has released a new Christmas commercial and there's not a dry eye on the internet. The 90-second spot, entitled Misunderstood may or may not boost iPhone sales this Christmas, but it's going to sell a lot of tissues. Your co-workers will be talking about this one.

3. Nirvana, Kiss and Peter Gabriel will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year, as will Hall and Oates, Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens. Details here.

4. We Texans know that our lifestyle is heavily dependent upon farmers and ranchers and the work they do. That's why one Texan wrote this: My Texan "Twelve Days of Christmas."

5. Austin Shirley is walking from Florida to Cali raise money for "Wounded Wear." He cannot accept rides, and is traveling with his dog. We found him midway between Marshall and Longview on Hwy 80, and spoke to him about his mission. We'll bring you that story tonight on East Texas News at 6.

6. Terrell ISD ordered all of its campuses to shelter in place on Tuesday morning. The order was later lifted, but all campuses were placed in an 'exterior lock.'
InForney.com reports that the facilities were placed on exterior lock out of an "abundance of caution" after reports of an "alleged agitated individual who may have been heading to the Terrell area."

7. The Troup Volunteer Fire Department and troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to reports of a submerged vehicle just south of Troup on Tuesday morning. The young woman was cited for "failure to drive in a single lane of the roadway."

Here's the livelink on KLTV.com; we'll be live there at 4, 5 and 6, just in case you'd prefer to watch our newscasts from your computer.

We'll see you soon!
