Weekend fire claims the life of 73-year-old ETX woman

WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - On Friday, Wood County emergency crews responded to a house fire that killed a 73-year-old woman.

According to the Wood County Sheriff's Department, multiple volunteer fire departments responded to a structure fire in the 6000 block of Farm to Market Road 779 in Alba. While fighting the blaze, firefighters discovered the body of Barbara Benthul Taylor in the burning home.

Taylor was pronounced dead by a justice of the peace on the scene and an autopsy was ordered.

The Wood County Sheriff's Department is in the process of an investigation and the cause of the fire in conjunction with the State Fire Marshal's Office.
