Our East Texas Salvation Army bell ringer is officially a world record holder. Saturday night, Andre Thompson was awarded the golden bell for his record breaking 105 hours of bell ringing. The manager of that Walgreens on Rieck Road and Broadway Ave., in Tyler, was also granted a golden bell for his support.
Two other bell ringers tied for the world record, one in California, the other in Minnesota. Andre says he has been talking with the Minnesota man and hopes to meet him someday.
"Like I said I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me, so I mean I didn't doubt it, but I really appreciate what helped me make it through was the constant encouraging from the surrounding people in Tyler Texas and the surrounding cities," Andre Thompson, the East Texas world record holder, said.
Andre's kettle has earned more than $13,000 to date.
