Randy Presley flew 55 combat missions over Korea during the Korean War. On the 17th mission, enemy fire blew a hole in his F-84 fighter bomber, but he was able to take the crippled plane back to base. Later he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for leading planes to safety on his first mission as a flight leader.
Randy Presley retired from the Air Force in 1990 as a Lieutenant Colonel and returned to his native Mt. Pleasant to live.
