BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The mother of a missing 16-year-old boy thinks his disappearance is linked to a fib he told on Facebook.

Tre'Varion Jackson vanished shortly after he posted a message on the social networking site claiming he shot someone at the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair.

"I feel awful all day, every day," Shashanneon Keller said.

Life has not been the same for Keller since Thanksgiving Day. She said, on that morning, her son disappeared from a relative's apartment complex on Sharp Lane.

"Thursday they got up getting dressed. He went outside. He doesn't have a phone or anything so it's not like he's going to make a phone a call and call anybody. (He had) no phone, no money, no jacket. He was outside."

Keller is convinced her son's disappearance is connected to a message she said he posted on Facebook, which suggested he was responsible for the shooting two weeks earlier. It was followed by a comment by someone else stating, 'If that was you that shot that boy. You over with.'

"It got, it was spinning out of control, people reposting it thinking it meant one thing when it meant something else and he received threats pertaining to that."

Keller said Tre'Varion didn't go to the fair. In fact, two days after the shooting, Keithdrick Pier was charged in connection to the murder.

Keller said she's not sure why her son posted the message but she does not believe he ran away.

"I don't know. I just think people are evil these days. So I don't know. I go to work and I try to work. I don't talk about it. I don't say anything, because I don't know what to say. I don't know what to do."

She said the more time that passes the more her mind and her heart fill with worry.

"I just want to know, just like where is he, something."

Baton Rouge Police said they are investigating but have not gotten any leads.
