According to Lindale Police Department Chief Daniel Somes, officers have arrested a suspected car thief who led police on a manhunt Thursday evening.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Justin Deangelo Langrum of Rowlett, attempted to break into a building behind a residence near County Road 4200 in Lindale Friday morning. A burglary alarm sounded inside the building and the homeowner called police. Chief Somes said that Lindale PD received multiple calls from neighbors as Langum ran through backyards.

Two Lindale PD officers located Langum near the end of County Road 4200 where he was taken into custody. Marijuana was found on him when officers made the arrest. He is currently being held at the Lindale Police Department.

Langum is currently charged with theft, accident involving damage and possession of marijuana.

Authorities launched a manhunt for the Langum Thursday evening after police say he stole unknown items from the Lindale Walmart and then left in a stolen vehicle, hitting a parked vehicle as he exited the parking lot.

He wrecked the vehicle shortly after fleeing Walmart and abandoned it in a wooded area near County Road 4200, off of Jim Hogg Road. Authorities searched the area for hours, but the manhunt was ended just before 9 p.m.
