7 from 7: Stories for your Thursday

Posted: Updated:

Good afternoon, everyone! We hope you're enjoying this sunny East Texas afternoon.

Here are some stories for you to check out today:

1. Country Music Hall of Fame member and country music legend Ray Price, 87, plans to leave East Texas Medical Center in Tyler on Thursday to go to his home in Mount Pleasant where he will be provided with hospice care.
Price, who is best known for his country classics, including Release Me, Crazy Arms and For the Good Times, has been battling pancreatic cancer since 2011.

2. Is Elvis Presley's Blue Christmas your favorite holiday song? Well, one French-Canadian teen is going to either impress or scare you with his impersonation. David Thibault is the 16-year-old whose voice emulates the King of Rock 'n' Roll to the astonishment of a Quebec radio audience and its disc jockeys. Thibault sings and plays the guitar in this amazing performance that almost makes one believe he's lip-syncing.

3. A Montana newlywed pleaded guilty Thursday to killing her husband of eight days by pushing him from a cliff in Glacier National Park while they argued about her second thoughts about the marriage. The surprise plea agreement with prosecutors came just before closing arguments were set to begin in the trial of Jordan Graham, 22.

4. East Texas appears to be on the road map for a cross-country trip by NASA's replacement for the Space Shuttle.

A test version of the Orion capsule left NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia early Thursday on the bed of an 18-wheeler, headed for California. The four-week road trip will make stops in Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before an early January arrival in San Diego, California.

5. If you are looking for a way to help kids have something under the tree this Christmas, head up to Mineola, just north of Lindale on Hwy 69, and attend the 2nd annual Flight of Dreams fly-in. You'll be able to watch R/C airplane pilots do aerobatic stunts, take an up-close look at the planes, and more. Cost of admission is simply a new toy or a monetary donation to the event's beneficiaries: Angel Tree, Rainbow Room of Wood County, or Toys for Tots.  More details here.

6. If you are looking for entertainment this weekend, we've made a list for you, and this week it's full of things like Holiday in the Park, live  music, movies, plays, and more! See it here.

7. Most of us have our favorite cartoon Christmas specials that we have looked forward to watching each year since childhood. Well, we've got a little pre-Christmas gift for you: a list of the airtimes for the holiday specials this year, including Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph, Frosty and the rest of the shows you love!
