A 51-year-old Longville man accused of killing his wife in October has been indicted on a charge of second-degree murder, prosecutors said.

Beauregard Parish District Attorney David Burton said Randal Langley was indicted by the grand jury on Wednesday. Langley, accused of shooting his wife Sherry Langley at their home on Oct. 13, entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

Langley is being held on a $1.75 million bond and faces a life sentence. The trial is set to begin April 14, 2014.

Authorities said Langley fled the scene after the shooting, which prompted a multi-parish, multi-agency search effort. Langley was captured a short time after crashing his vehicle in Merryville.
