ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) -

The investigation into the theft of a grocery store led to the discovery of a home that was deemed unlivable by Zachary Police.

When officers arrived at the home, they found a three year old girl and eight dogs and two cats living inside the home with no running water. A probable cause report states "the child was living around a variety of pill medication, evidence of heroin usage, and an overabundance of animal feces inside the house."

Reports say the conditions were so bad inside the home, it made officers physically ill.

A Hazmat team was called to the residence to test the ammonia levels in the home. They found 5-10 parts per million. The Zachary Fire Department deemed the residence unlivable and closed the house to the public.

The Department of Child and Family Services took custody of the child and the animals were surrendered to the East Baton Rouge Animal Control.

Caitlin Claire Lanehart, 21, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, improper supervision of juvenile, confined animals without food or water and theft of goods. She is being held on a $3,250 bond.

Porcha Monique McGraw, 22, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, improper supervision of juvenile, confined animals without food or water, and fugitive from EBRSO. She is being held on a $15,000 bond.
