Around 8 p.m. Thursday, investigators and deputies of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from a Jacksonville Police Department Investigator and an officer from the Rusk Police Department, executed a narcotic search warrant at a residence on County Road 1310 in the Gallatin community.

Investigators had been gathering information into the suspected sale of narcotics from the residence. An affidavit of probable cause was prepared and presented to Judge Forest Phifer, who then issued the narcotics search warrant.

Located and collected at the residence was a significant amount of methamphetamine, over $1,000 in cash, a stolen firearm and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Arrested at the scene were 42-year-old Steven Ray Davis and 26-year-old Samantha Douglas, who were transported to the Cherokee County Jail and charged with manufacture/delivery of controlled substance and theft of a firearm.

Other charges may be forthcoming pending the outcome of the investigation. Both subjects remain in Cherokee County Jail with bond set at $45,000 for each.
