ETX man sentenced to 20 years for Kilgore bank robbery

GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas man was sentenced to 20 years in prison today after he pleaded guilty to robbing a Kilgore bank, according to Gregg County court records.

Sixty-year-old James L. Wikert eluded law enforcement for more than 24 hours after robbing Bank Texas on Highway 42 in Kilgore on Oct. 22.

Wikert was captured by a Department of Public Safety trooper at a fast food restaurant in Hawkins.

At the time of the robbery, court documents show Wikert was out on parole after serving sevreral decades in prison on a murder charge.
