A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6PM Friday for Kaufman, Van Zandt, Hunt, Rains, Hopkins and Delta Counties. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 6PM Friday for Anderson and Henderson Counties. Today we will be seeing a mix of rain, sleet and freezing rain move through our northern counties. This will be mainly from I-20 and north and with this there could be some ice accumulating on the roadways. This will be especially true for elevated structures live overpasses, power lines and tree limbs.
The roads will be slick this morning so please keep that in mind. Daytime highs today will top out in the middle 30s on average with residents in Deep East Texas getting closer to 40. We will begin to dry things out for the second half of the day. Overnight skies will be mostly cloudy. Temperatures will be getting very cold once again with that brisk northerly wind. We'll be mainly in the lower 20s in our northern counties, middle to upper 20s in our central counties, and lower to middle 30s in Deep East Texas.
The chance for some more wintry mix returns to the forecast during the second half of the day Saturday and lingers into the first part of Sunday.
