Tips for Adults
- Have photos, fingerprints and videos of your kids.
- Put your phone number on a card in their pocket if going to a crowded place.
- Have a "code word" that only you and your child know.
- Teach your kids how and when to use 911.
- Teach your kids where they can go and whose help they can seek if they feel threatened.
- Don't drop off your children at malls, theaters, arcades or parks without adult supervision.
- Choose baby-sitters with care and get references.
- When going away, let them know how long you'll be gone and where you can be reached.
- Talk about sex and sexuality. A naive child is more vulnerable to predators.
- Listen to your children to determine whether everything's okay.
