LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Longview police responded to a call from Good Shepherd Medical Center, where a man was reportedly stabbing people in the surgery center on the second floor.

In all, Kyron Rashaun Templeton, age 22, stabbed five people in that attack, killing nurse Gail Sandidge and injuring four others. He was arrested just a few blocks away within minutes.

One of the victims, Harris Teel, Sr., age 82, is still in the hospital today in critical condition. According to his son-in-law's reports online, Mr. Teel was stabbed through the heart, and is fighting for his life in the hospital's intensive care unit.

Teel's neighbor says Teel raised his sons and daughter with his wife in Gilmer. That neighbor says Teel was at the surgical center Tuesday because he was accompanying his son, who was having some tests run.

Son-in-law Gary B. Borders says the family is not ready to speak about the attack, but referred us to his website, where he posted the following:

We have been overwhelmed by the prayers of friends, strangers, the staff at Good Shepherd — everyone. The medical care he has received — from the moment after the attack, into the ER where an extraordinary surgeon repaired hisheart, and now in intensive care — has been superlative.

For that we all give thanks today as Papa Teel fights to come back from thisgrievous injury. His outcome is still uncertain. We can only leave this in God's hands and in the hands of those who now care for him in ICU.
