Stephen F. Austin has fired head football coach J.C. Harper.  S.F.A. athletic director Robert Hill annuonced the move on Monday.

"Coach Harper and I met this morning at which time I shared with him my decision to make a change in our football leadership," Hill said in a press release . "I want to thank him for his service to SFA and wish him well in his future endeavors."

Harper was hired as S.F.A.'s defensive coordinator in 2005.  He was named head coach in 2007.  Harper finishes his career at S.F.A. with a 37-45 record.

Harper was a two time Southland Conference coach of the year, however the Lumberjacks have been just 8-15 the last two seasons.
