An iconic East Texas restaurant has opened its doors in a new location and under new management.
El Charro restaurants have called Tyler home for more than 70 years, but recently closed their doors. Now, they have reopened under the name, El Charro On The Ridge. They are calling this a "soft opening" as they work through some of the kinks.
A lunch crowd filled the restaurant on Thursday and said they are happy it is back and that their all-time favorites have not changed.
"It's the same, thank goodness. We were worried the other night that it might not be, but it is the same," said satisfied customer Judy Harrison. This is her second visit to the restaurant since they reopened.
"The chips and salsa are the best, and I always have my favorites, and it tastes the exact same here. I'll definitely be back, the new location is great," said Chris Jones, who enjoyed lunch at the new property.
"It was excellent; it's really fresh," said Sherrel Rawlings, whose family agreed that their meals were great.
Marilyn Fowlek said she used to visit their old locations and was disappointed when they closed.
"We are really happy there are here," she said.
The restaurant has added some calorie friendly options alongside customers' favorite menu items.
