7 from 7: Stories for your Thursday

Posted: Updated:

Good afternoon! We hope you're enjoying your warm afternoon in lovely East Texas.

1. Well, you'll want to know about the big change that is coming in our local weather tomorrow. Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto wrote a short web story for you to fill you in. Just know this: tomorrow's high temperature will occur in the morning, and then will rapidly decline. And rain...there will be rain. Here's the story.

2. We've compiled our weekend events list a day early, as there were some things going on tonight that we didn't want you to miss! Click here to see the East Texas entertainment list for November 21-24.

3. Phase three of the TransCanada Keystone XL pipeline is almost finished. A large portion of the pipeline goes right through East Texas. Julie Trigg Crawford, whose farm is now home to part of the pipeline, is reaching out to East Texans and encouraging them to stand up against the pipeline. Read more here.

4. London Metropolitan Police say three women that have been allegedly held against their will in the United Kingdom for 30 years have been rescued. A 67-year-old man and 67-year-old woman have been arrested in connection to slavery and domestic servitude.

5. Fifty years ago tomorrow, Texas would be forever linked to a Presidential tragedy. Right now the city of Dallas is preparing to honor the life and memory of President John F. Kennedy, whose life was ended by an assassin's bullet on a Dallas street.  KLTV's Melanie Torre will report live tonight at 6 from the site of the events in Dallas.

6. Also, Joe Terrell shares an interview that he did twenty years ago with Jim Leavelle, "The Man in the White Hat," who was handcuffed to JFK's killer, Lee Harvey Oswald, when things went from bad to worse on that tragic day. Join Joe for that on East Texas News at 6.

7.Some Longview firefighters got a nice holiday surprise from a local senior care center today! They thought they were going to share fire safety tips with the residents, and they ended up being "pie-d," instead. Our Jamey Boyum will share their story tonight at 6.

Join us on our livestream on KLTV.com if you're not near your tv this evening. We'll be there at 4, 5 and 6.

See you soon,
