Teen dead, another critically injured after wreck

OVERTON, TX (KLTV) - According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 18-year-old Corey Peyton Kellis of Overton was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-vehicle accident Wednesday evening.

Kellis was riding in a 1986 Ford Bronco, driven by 19-year-old Keifer Tye Bell of Arp, southbound on County Road 3199 near Overton around 6:30 p.m. Bell lost control of the Bronco, causing the vehicle to overturn. Kellis was wearing a seatbelt at the time the accident occurred but died from injuries sustained during the crash.

Bell was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler and is listed in good condition. He is being treated for bruises and lacerations received during the accident. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time the crash occurred.

Three additional East Texas teenagers were also riding in the Bronco when it crashed. Jerry Svoboda, 17, of Arp was taken to ETMC in Tyler and is currently listed in critical condition. Jacee Lynette Land, 17, of Tyler was taken to ETMC in fair condition and was treated for head trauma. Adrianna Marie Cornelio, 17, of Tyler was also taken to ETMC and was treated for broken bones. All three teens were not wearing seatbelts.

Services for Kellis will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mason Cemetery in Arp.
