Warm temps on Wednesday, arctic front expected Thursday night

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A major change in the West Texas weather will begin on Thursday. An arctic front will roll from the Panhandle region into the South Plains during the afternoon and early evening hours Thursday.

It will bring a significant drop in temperatures along with very strong northerly winds and the potential for wintry precipitation. That front could be in Lubbock as early 6 p.m. Thursday.

Travel problems could develop by Friday morning and continue through the evening - possibly into the weekend.

Ahead of the front, it will be warm and windy on Wednesday with highs in the 70-75 degree range.

Thursday, depending on when the front arrives in Lubbock, could also approach the 70 degree mark.
