LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas teenager is out of surgery and recovering in a Longview hospital after police say a driver plowed into a crowd of people at a weekend party.

Three people were injured in the incident, which happened during a party Saturday night in the 100 block of East Myrle Avenue. 18-year-old Adrian Moreno was seriously injured in the incident and said he was conscious the entire time.

“I see her hit my friend, then she hit the girl and then she hit me right then and there,” Moreno said.

Moreno spent Monday recovering from is first surgery, after both collar bones and his pelvis were fractured when the female driver slammed into the crowd.

“My body was in the middle, underneath the car,” Moreno said. “Her tires on the left side of my car both went over my back and onto my feet.”

Neighbors at the part said the woman first got into a fight with multiple people in the street and was then told to leave the party. Witnesses said she then got into her car, simply turned the wheel and then charged at a crowd of nearly 20 people, hitting three.

“I looked to my left and pretty much my clothes were torn off of me and my hat was missing,” Moreno said. “That's why I ended up getting staples in my head.”

Adrian’s stepfather Cameron Macleod was visiting family in Dallas at the time and raced back to Longview when he heard the news.

“The injuries are to the point where the young fellow cannot walk,” Macleod said. “We don't know how long he's going to be laid out for. Thank God nobody was injured worse than Adrian, because there could be a lot more devastation from your actions.”

The family said there will be more surgery and rehab ahead, but right now, they are just grateful it wasn’t worse.

“She could have really killed me,” Moreno said. “I'm just lucky to be alive right now.”

Longview police would not comment on whether the crash was intentional or if the woman was under the influence of any substances.

Police expect the driver to face charges following an investigation by the Gregg County District Attorney’s office.
