Local elementary school helps break world record for cup stacking

Posted: Updated:
TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Ramey Elementary School in Tyler helped break a world record last week.

The new Guinness World Record for "most people stacking at multiple locations in one day" was set on Sunday. Last year's record was 483,658 cups. This year, on Sunday, the schools involved surpassed that, stacking over 500,000 cups across all the locations involved.

Tyler's Ramey Elementary was one of 2,800 locations involved in breaking the record. They stacked 519 cups. Organizers say it will be about a week before the count becomes official...but the total certified so far is more than the record set last year.
