Judge says Bryant's accuser must be identified in civil lawsuit

A federal judge in Denver has rejected a request from the woman accusing N-B-A star Kobe Bryant of rape to remain anonymous.

Judge Richard Matsch (maych) ruled that the parties must "appear as equals before the court."

Attorneys for the 20-year-old woman -- who is suing Bryant -- say she has been the subject of death threats and sordid publicity for more than a year. But Bryant's lawyers say she shouldn't be able to bring what they call a "false accusation" in her lawsuit without being identified.

Prosecutors dropped their rape case against Bryant when the accuser no longer wanted to participate in a criminal trial.

No trial date has been set in the civil lawsuit.
