Harley-Davidson hosts veterans event

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

A post-veterans day event is saluting military members and raising money to bring them together for an important anniversary.

The Longview Harley-Davidson dealership celebrated the 4th annual 'salute to veterans' event today. Veterans were invited out for food , raffles, and fellowship.   Money raised from the event will go to fund a Vietnam veterans reunion ceremony in 2015 commemorating the 50th anniversary of America's involvement in the Vietnam war.

"Of all the veterans that have returned from war , Vietnam was one of the ones where we either didn't get welcomed or we got welcomed in a manner that we wished we hadn't been welcomed," says Vietnam veteran Dick Jurkowski.

"If we didn't have the freedoms that we know now because of the veterans from the past and the future, we wouldn't be able to even ride a bike," says Harley-Davidson worker Robin Saldana.

The 50th anniversary event will be held in April 2015 at Maude Cobb activity center in Longview.
