LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant provided some fellow Walmart shoppers with some early Christmas cheer Thursday night.

Bryant made an appearance at a Dallas Walmart to purchase a new PlayStation 4 game system on the night of its release. Then, out of the blue, the former Lufkin High School football standout, purchased PS4 consoles for several shoppers who were waiting in line with him, according to an EPSN story.

"Bryant likes to boast that he's the world's best ‘Madden' video game player on PlayStation," the ESPN story stated. "He's challenged fans and teammates online to games. He has a few new friends to play against now."

A number of people tweeted about the wide receiver's benevolent act. One man tweeted, "Respect@DezBryant! But we don't hear about positive stories like this about him or other media proclaimed ‘divas.'"

Another man tweeted, "[Expletive]. @DezBryant just bought whoever was in line at Walmart in Dallas a PS4."

According to the EPSN story the PS4 console retails for a little more than $500. Gamers waited outside of video game stores all over the country in anticipation of the system's release.

Bryant is now the middle of his fourth season as a Dallas Cowboy. Ten games into the season, he has 53 receptions for 749 yards and eight touchdowns, according to the Dallas Cowboys Website.

The Cowboys traded their 27th overall pick along with a third round choice to New England for the 24th overall pick in the first round and a fourth round selection to pick Bryant in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys Website stated. Dallas picked Bryant even though he missed most of his senior season at Oklahoma State.
