A magical night for Troup's Jarriel Norman began with a heads up play against Winona's field goal unit.
"I saw J.D. (Medford) block the field goal," Jarriel explains, "so I picked it up and took off with it."
Norman went 75 yards for his first touchdown of the game. Then, on the next offensive play, he went long again for a 47 yard touchdown. Then three more times, scoring five touchdowns in the first half.
"That was a very unusual game," Troup head coach Andy Griffin laughs.
The final line for Norman, 312 all-purpose yards and five scores. Troup will need another week's worth of great performances this week, they travel to preseason favorite Elysian Fields.
"It's a big game, " Troup lineman Justin Gatlin says. "The district championship runs through Elysian Fields."
"They haven't been beaten in district in several years," Griffin says. "If you want to win the district championship, you've got to beat them."
