Athens enters the playoffs a perfect 10

For the first time in program history, the Athens Hornets enter the playoffs with a perfect 10 and 0 record.  It's been a memorable season for the Hornets, who brought home a district championship for the first time since 1992.

The senior class went undefeated on the freshman team back in 2010.  Three years later, they once again found perfection.

"It was all our dream," said Athens senior Chris Jefferson.  "We said we can do this as freshman, we can do this as seniors. We kept that in the back of our minds. We tried to do it every year to be 10 and 0. We knew our senior year we wanted to make that task come alive."

The Hornets hope to match the school record for wins in a season with 11, if they beat Chapel Hill Friday night.

"It's just awesome to get that 10 and 0 feeling," said Athens linebacker KJ Cumby. "And to know we can come back from our history of 10 and 0 our 7th and 8th grade year and 9th year and continue the legacy we have, it's just been amazing."
