Fire crews responded to the report of a single story house fire Sunday evening in Mineola.
Upon arrival of the fire located in the 100-block of Frances street near Highway 80, fire crews say flames were visible through the roof of the home. Mineola fire crews were able to knock the flames down and control the fire, mainly to the kitchen which is where officials say the heaviest damage was done. The rest of the home did receive some smoke damage.
Fire crews from Quitman and Alba also responded to the scene to help in the clean up process.
Nobody was home at the time of the fire. One of the neighbors was taken to a local hospital and was treated for shortness of breath.
