Salvation Army kicks off Angel Tree with 3,000 wish lists that need filling

Posted: Updated:

The Christmas wishes of East Texas children and seniors are already starting to be fulfilled.

The Salvation Army kicked off their annual Angel Tree Charity at the Broadway Square Mall in Tyler on Friday.

There are 3,000 East Texas angels looking for someone to adopt them this Christmas. Most of the items on their wish lists are as simple as socks or a jacket for winter. The Salvation Army knows Christmas shopping can be a financial burden for many families, but they say every little bit helps.

"I just want East Texans to remember that every part that they do is very crucial to the person who receives their gift. We know that things are tight with everyone, so anything that anyone can do is very helpful to a family," says Salvation Army Major Doris Lawrence.

If you'd like to pick out an angel this Christmas, you can go to any of the following Tyler locations:

  • Broadway Square Mall
  • Walmart on South  Broadway
  • Walmart on Highway 64
  • Regions Bank Locations
  • Marvin United Methodist Church
  • Rose City Bingo
  • Suddenlink

Unwrapped gifts are due back to the Salvation Army by December 14th.
