SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

According to the Smith County Sheriff's Department, a man and woman were arrested at a residence on CR 112 for possession and distribution of crack cocaine. The arrests happened at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

The pair were taken into custody after a search warrant was executed by Judge Jack Skeen and served by the Smith County Sheriff's office and two members of the DPS Special Response team.

"A search of the residence turned up significant quantities of crack cocaine, a loaded firearm and cash," said Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith. "Both of these individuals already have extensive criminal records. I want this to send a message that drug dealing is not tolerated in Smith County. We're watching, and when we catch you, you're going to jail."

The names are being withheld pending their magistration by a judge, Sheriff Smith said.
