Facing Off Tonight

In Cleveland tonight, the Republican and Democratic Vice Presidential candidates will face each other in a debate.  New importance has been placed on this debate as the presidential race is neck-and-neck according to polls.

Vice president Dick Cheney, is expected to attack trial lawyers while John Edwards will target corporate greed.  Unlike the first presidential debate, which focused on foreign policy, the vice presidential candidates will face questions on all subjects.

Tonight will be the only time Cheney and Edwards will face off in a debate.  Political analyst, Steven Hess, says "the contrast of personalities, the contrast of backgrounds and the importance of this particular vice president probably make this a very significant debate."

Tonight's debate comes less than a week since their running mates met in the first of three scheduled debates.  Live coverage of the vice presidential debate begins at 8 o'clock tonight on KLTV 7.
