Dancers from NYC ballet experience Texas culture and cuisine

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

A team of New York City Ballet dancers are in East Texas to perform with the Longview Ballet Theatre at the Belcher Center at LeTourneau University.

"I think part of our job is not only to present great art, but to enhance to the community has already started to take hold of themselves. With Longview Ballet Theatre and what they've been able to do over the last 40 years in the community, it's an honor to be a part of that," said dancer Daniel Ulbricht.

"This is just a very exciting thing for me to come back here and dance in Texas, and I feel most honored to show young girls and boys that you can be a ballet dancer for a living." says fellow dancer Sterling Hyltin.

Every year the group tries to do something 'Texan' before heading back to New York City.

Today happens to be "National Nacho Day,"  and we wanted to be good neighbors, with the help of our friends at the Jalapeno Tree, by serving nachos, complete with jalapenos, to the dancers.

"A little warm" said one dancer.

It's certainly a culinary departure for New Yorkers.

"Not our usual lunch" said Ulbricht.

You can catch their 'Once Upon a Circus' perfomance this weekend at the Belcher Center in Longview.
