TYLER, TX (KLTV) - According to court records, 28-year-old Shavonda Deshay Jones of Tyler was sentenced to ten years of probation for her involvement in a large East Texas identity theft ring.

Jones appeared in a Smith County courtroom Tuesday where she received a probated sentence in addition to 500 hours of community service. Around a dozen more defendants arrested for their involvement in the case should make court appearances later this month.

Investigators said a total of 45 victims of identity fraud came forward, prompting a four month investigation involving 21 suspects. According to an arrest affidavit, more than $24,000 was stolen from these victims dating back to 2012.

Tyler police, FBI, and other local police agencies teamed up to make the 13 arrests.
