Thousands of East Texans are covered in color after crossing the finish line of a 5k run in Longview. It was the first annual 5-K color up run. Not for time , or trophies, but just to have fun.
"Color up 5-K is all about getting out with your friends and family , running an having a great time. We always partner with a local charity, for this race we're supporting downtown main street," says run organizer Terri Ross.
"It was a family activity we wanted to do together, girls, girls family activity," says Mount Pleasant runner Crystal Freeman.
Part of the run fun, was to get covered in paint powder, as colorfully as possible.
"If you're a better runner you had less color , I wanted more color on me but I also wanted to be a faster runner," says runner Alicia McCollum. Families came from all over East Texas to participate in the unusual event.
No time was kept during the color up run, organizers say they just want to celebrate fitness friends and fun. All of the money raised goes towards beautification projects for the city of Longview. Around 2-thousand runners took part in the run.
