Severe weather moving through East Texas this morning caused problems for residents in Tyler and surrounding areas.
The storms produced heavy lightning and rain as they made their way through the area. The rain fell so fast that it caused some flooding on roadways. On Interstate 20 in Lindale there was a chain reaction accident after a tractor trailer hauling a heavy load turned over on the Highway 69 exit.
At Douglas Elementary School in Tyler, students were sent home due to the weather. As the rain fell, it caused flooding at the school making it hard for students to get in and out of the portable buildings.
In other parts of East Texas, drivers were slowed to a crawl as they maneuvered through the downpour. There have also been reports of downed trees along Highway 69 south of Jacksonville.
