KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A Kansas City mother was arrested Tuesday and charged Wednesday after her teen daughter told police she threw a hot frying pan full of grease at her.

Marilin R. Gobel, 40, faces four counts of abuse or neglect of a child and one count of second-degree domestic assault.

According to a police report, officers were called to a home near Paloma and Drury avenues on a child abuse report.

The 16-year-old victim told police she was in a bedroom playing with children when her mother came in and began yelling that she and the other children were playing too loud while she was on the phone. When the noise didn't subside, the teen told police her mother then returned and allegedly unleashed and began slapping and hitting her. The teen said her mother then threw her to the ground and began choking her to the point where she said she couldn't breathe and even blacked out.

The police report said another person in the house intervened and pulled the girl's mother off of her.

The witness said she could hear the girl, "gurgling and gasping to get air" and she heard Gobel say, "I might go to jail, but I will keep beating your a**."

Court documents said the witness also reportedly heard Gobel say "I wish you were the one that died, not my son."

When the teen tried to run, though, she said her mother grabbed her by the hair and pulled her up the stairs.

According to the police report, the mother then allegedly went to the kitchen and grabbed a hot frying pan full of grease and threw it at her daughter. The person who intervened earlier was able to push the teen out of the way so that she wasn't hit by the grease or the pan and the teen said she then ran out of the home.

The teen was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital with complaints of neck and body pains as well as having a hard time breathing.

When KCTV5's Amy Anderson stopped by the house Wednesday, she met a man who said he was the teen's father. He said his daughter is doing OK, but didn't want to say much beyond that.

Prosecutors requested Gobel's bond be set at $100,000.
