WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) -

West Chester Hospital, part of the University of Cincinnati's affiliated health system, has been given an "A" rating for patient safety.

The patient safety analysis group Leapfrog recently released its Hospital Safety Score report cards, rating more than 2,500 healthcare facilities throughout the country.

West Chester Hospital was one of a few Cincinnati-area hospitals to receive top honors.

According to the ratings, more than two thirds of all hospitals surveyed by the group received a B grade or lower. Hospitals with A grades performed best in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.

"Patient safety is top priority at West Chester Hospital. We are proud that our vigilant efforts to provide a safe environment for our patients have been recognized by the Leapfrog Group for an additional year," says Kevin Joseph, MD, president and CEO of West Chester Hospital. "An A grade demonstrates excellence in the area of patient safety and quality measures, and an unrivaled commitment to ongoing excellence. Patients should consider many factors when choosing where to receive care. The Hospital Safety Scorecard equips patients with an important tool for comparison of safety and service."

West Chester Hospital is a 160-bed, all-private room, hospital accessible from Interstate 75 at Tylersville Road.
