TISD Explains JT "Needs Improvement" Issue In Letter

The Tyler Independent School District is still trying to determine if John Tyler High School's failure to meet federal standards will result in students being allowed transfer to another school.
Thursday, KLTV told viewers how John Tyler had failed in meeting standards in the No Child Left Behind Act for two years in a row. The failure gives parents the option to send their children to another school.
However, Tyler is also under a federal desegregation order that governs transers. Right now know one knows which one takes precedence.
Letters explaining this went out to parents Friday and late Friday evening TISD officials were still when the confusion would be settled.
