From the Kilgore Police Department:

Kilgore, TX -On Saturday, October 26th, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., citizens will have the opportunity to drop off any expired, unwanted or unused prescription medication at the Kilgore Police Department. The Kilgore Police Department will be participating in the Seventh National Pharmaceutical Take Back Initiative Program in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The effort is aimed at bringing attention to the growing problem of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse.

This service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Many times addiction can start at the medicine cabinet, so let’s keep these unwanted medications from falling into the hands of those who would abuse them. Over half of teens abusing prescription medication get them from family or friends and many times this includes the home medicine cabinet. Medication in the home is also the leading cause of accidental poisoning.

Let’s work together to make Kilgore a safe place for those we care for. Take full advantage of this free and simple program which is considered to be the safest and most responsible way to dispose of unwanted or expired prescription medication.
