RAINS COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A Rains County Independent School District employee was struck by a vehicle around 7 a.m. on Thursday morning, says the school district.

According to Rains County ISD Superintendent John Rouse, the employee, who worked as a teacher's aide, was crossing Highway 69 on her way into school  when she was struck by a vehicle. He said the aide will be okay, although he had not received an official status on her condition.

The  Rains County Sheriff's Department says the employee was airlifted to Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

Rouse said traffic in that area depends on the time of day, but that it is generally not very busy in the early morning.
