Investigation underway after third shooting in three days

Another shooting has taken place in Savannah, this time on West 38th and Barnard streets.

Metro police found a man shot in his car that had crashed right in front of the Savannah Deliverance Center at the intersection of 38th and Barnard streets around 1 a.m. Thursday. The victim was rushed to Memorial with serious injuries, but he was alert and talking as he was being loaded into the ambulance.

The roads around 38th and Barnard had to be closed for 2 to 3 hours, but have since reopened.

It is unknown if the actual shooting took place where the wreck occurred or if the man was shot somewhere else and drove for a bit before crashing into the church.

"It is a pretty nice area now. We have had some trouble over the years, but it is pretty cleaned up. We actually have been doing some renovations around here," said Ernest Tilson, Minister at Savannah Deliverance Center.

This is the third shooting to happen in Savannah in less than 3 days. There was one at Reynold's and 31st streets Tuesday night, one on Wednesday on Laroche Ave. and Hughes Ave., and now at 38th and Barnard streets. No suspects have been taken into custody in any of these shootings.

"I do not know what is going on in this city, seems to be getting worse and worse," said Tilson.
