CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica made is stopping in Cincinnati. The Wall that Heals made its first appearance in the Cincinnati Museum Center on Wednesday.

The traveling exhibit allows the many thousands of veterans who have been unable to cope with the prospect of facing The Wall to find the strength and courage to do so within their own communities, thus allowing the healing process to begin.

"We bring it here for the opportunity of our Vietnam veterans to mourn, honor and pay tribute to our fallen," explains veteran Wayne Hutchison. "Families can gather. Friendships can be rekindled or reunited again with comrades they have served with. This becomes a sacred or a hollowed place as a memorial to the fallen."

On Veterans Day 1996, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund unveiled a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., designed to travel to communities throughout the United States.

Since its dedication, The Wall That Heals has visited more than 350 cities and towns throughout the nation. The exhibit features The Wall replica and a mobile museum.

The Wall is part of USO Tribute Cincinnati, a weekend of patriotic activity, designed to honor veterans and raise funds for wounded military members and their families.
