TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
According to Smith County District Attorney Matt Bingham, 25-year-old Martin Garza, Jr. of Tyler was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday.
Garza was found guilty on one count of managing and delivering a controlled substance. He has previously been convicted and sentenced to prison for burglary of a habitation and engaging in organized criminal activity.
In court Wednesday, Bingham said Garza had an outburst and began yelling at presiding Judge Jack Skeen.
Testimony given in court showed that Garza was affiliated with the East Side Locos and the Sureno prison gang.
Garza has previously been arrested in Smith County ten times for various charges, including possession with intent to distribute cocaine, engaging in organized criminal activity, burglary of a vehicle, possession of marijuana, speeding and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
