SWAG Ministry delivers special packages to ETX's at the Tyler Salvation Army

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

A new ministry is helping East Texans at the Salvation Army in Tyler.

The "SWAG" ministry, which stands for "Saved Witnesses Anointed by God", is organized by UT Tyler students.

After a hot meal from the salvation army, they passed out bags filled with basic items for both children, and adults.

It's a ministry they say they want to expand, and share to encourage the community.

"Most of the time we stay inside of the church, and praise God, but we want to take our ministry outside of the church," said Shandra Shankle, Founder of SWAG Ministries. "We want to show God's love to those who are here, and just let them know that someone cares about them. We want to  let them know they can get back on their feet, and that there are people pushing them to get to that place to where they need to be in life."

SWAG Ministries is hoping with the partnership of local businesses, they can continue to offer these care packages at least every other month.
