Middle school students get a head start on their careers

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Middle school students are getting a head start on planning their future.

Thursday night, Tyler ISD Career and Technical Education, or CTE Department, hosted an event for all of the districts middle school students and their parents.

The event was called "Your Future is Now."

Organizers discussed various career pathway options, certifications, and licenses available to high school students through the CTE program.

"It is never too early to start planning for your future. We have 6th, 7th, and 8th graders here, and we are working hard to give them the chance to make the most out of high school, and beyond," said Misty Raisure, with Tyler ISD.

UT Tyler representatives were also available to answer any questions about the college enrollment process.

The CTE Program is available to students at both Robert E. Lee and John Tyler high schools.
