A Sports Illustrated report says the Oakland Raiders have cut Tyler-native Matt Flynn. Flynn was traded to the Raiders by Seattle for a fifth round pick. The former Tyler Lee and LSU quarterback was expected to start for the Raiders in 2013.
Flynn lost the starting job in training camp, but started in Week 4 for the injured Terrelle Pryor. After losing to Redskins, Flynn was demoted from backup to third string. Flynn was successful as a backup for the Packers, but has struggled since leaving Green Bay.
