Tyler held its' 8th Annual Firefighter Combat Challenge.
Firefighters from across the region, came to showcase their talents, skills, and athleticism in a friendly competition.
The giant obstacle course included climbing a five-story tower in full bunker gear, dragging and hoisting a fire hose, simulating forceible entry, and carrying a 180 pound manikin. These are all skills firefighters use on the job.
Firefighters competing say it's the ultimate test.
"It is some of the hardest running you can do," said Jeremy Driver, firefighter with the Tyler Fire Department. "It is all sprint running. It is the hardest breathing you can do, and it's like breathing through a straw."
26 fire departments competed in Saturday's competition, and the Tyler Fire Department finished 3rd overall.
