7 from 7: Stories for your Wednesday afternoon

Greetings, and happy Wednesday to you!

Here are some stories we think you'll find interesting today:

1. Do you believe Bigfoot exists? You've probably seen the grainy video from the 1960's, which allegedly shows Bigfoot, but new so-called evidence released Tuesday shows even more detailed video.
"We want people to understand this is a serious study," said a genetics scientist who helped lead the Sasquatch Genome Project. Read all about it and see the video here.

2. P. T. Cole Park has new restricted hours after a violent incident in July.
According to Tyler Police Department Chief Gary Swindle, the park will now be closed from sunset to sunrise. The recommendation was handed down from Tyler Parks and Recreation and will be initiated by police.

3. Here's your dose of Texas history for today, including details of a mass hanging of suspected Union sympathizers.

4. Chrysler is recalling more than 142,000 pickup trucks and SUVs worldwide because of software glitches that could affect instrument cluster lighting and braking systems. The recall affects vehicles in the 2014 model year.

5. An East Texas congressman was back at the National World War II Memorial for day two of the government shutdown. On Wednesday, Texas Representative Louie Gohmert said he answered the call from World War II veterans in Washington D.C. who were attempting to visit the memorial.
"They were going to be prevented, for the only time in their lives to be here, from being out here in this memorial," said Gohmert. More details here about today's incident.

6. With the federal government shut down because Congress cannot agree on a spending bill, some are surprised about what services, museums and other agencies are open for business and which aren't. By the way – Congress is still getting paid. Click here for a list of what's closed, open, or operating with essential employees.

7. And coming full-circle back to Bigfoot, click here to find out about East Texas' own Bigfoot Fest, taking place October 11-12 in Wood County! There will be geocaching, live music and a lot more going on.
