TYLER, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas park has new restricted hours after a violent incident in July.

According to Tyler Police Department Chief Gary Swindle, P.T. Cole Park will now be closed from sunset to sunrise. The recommendation was handed down from Tyler Parks and Recreation and will be initiated by police.

All other Tyler parks have restricted hours as well. Most, with the exception of Bergfeld Park and Hillside Park, are closed to the public between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. Bergfeld Park and Hillside Park are closed from sunrise to sunset. It is illegal to enter a park or remain within a park during the hours in which it is closed.

On July 30, 20-year-old Briana Young was killed during a shooting at P.T. Cole Park. Court documents have revealed that two gang members went to the park to locate a rival gang member. When the three gang members started shooting, Young attempted to flee the park, clutching her 3-year-old son in her arms. The young mother collapsed in the playground on top of her child after being shot in the chest.

Four men have been charged with her murder.
