East Texas teacher awarded $1,000 worth of supplies

An East Texas teacher was in for quite a surprise Tuesday morning when she was was awarded $1,000 worth of school supplies.
Arlene Leal, a fourth grade teacher at Peete Elementary in Tyler, received an unexpected visit to her classroom from Office Max representatives and Peete Elementary Principal John Dees. The group was there to award Leal with $1,000 worth of classroom supplies.
Leal is among 1,000 teachers in the nation who were nominated by their principals for their extraordinary efforts in the classroom. The initiative was part of Office Max's "A Day Made Better" advocacy program.
